Scholarship

Around 89% of all admitted international students will be awarded scholarships.

A. Requirements for Scholarship Award

  • GPA from the previous (latest) school 4.0 or above (out of 4.5), 3.83 or above (out of 4.3), 3.57 or above(out of 4.0), or 90 or above (out of 100)
  • TOEFL (PBT) 577 or above, TOEFL (CBT) 233 or above, TOEFL (iBT) 90 or above, TEPS 700 or above, IELTS 7.0 or above or TOPIK level 6 or above
  • Recommendation from the department and permission from the dean of graduate school
  • All three requirements should be satisfied to be awarded Scholarship A.

  • Recommendation from the department and permission from the dean of graduate school

(Natural Science or Engineering Area)
  • Recommendation from the department and permission from the dean of graduate school
  • Both admission evaluation and scholarship award evaluation will be conducted automatically and simultaneously. You do not need to contact the department individually for recommendation form the department.

C. Conditions to maintain the Scholarship Award

  • For the GPA range 3.0 above to GPA 3.8: Students within this range for two consecutive semesters will receive 75% scholarship ; Students whose GPA remains 3.8 or above afterward will be awarded a 100% scholarship.
  • GPA 3.0 below for two consecutive semesters: Scholarship award will be suspended. However, student maintaining GPA 3.0 or higher afterward will be granted a 75% scholarship.
  • Scholarship A will not be granted after scholarship suspension.

  • Maintain GPA 3.5 or above
Foreign Student
Scholarship C
  • Maintain GPA 3.5 or above
  • When a student maintains a GPA of 3.5 or higher, the College of Medicine will continue to grant Foreign Student Scholarships under its own policy.

** Some professor in the Natural Sciences or Engineering area may offer a stipend to exellent students individually from their own research fund. Please contact the head of department .

KDI School

Financial Aid and Scholarships
The KDI School strives to support students who have excellent academic records but are unable to secure funding from other sources. Assistance is available through various fellowships, scholarships or work-study opportunities.
Special Fellowships and Scholarships

KDI School Scholarship of Academic Excellence 
– This scholarship is granted to applicants who have exemplified academic excellence in their previous educational careers.

Dean’s Merit Scholarship

– Applicants who are affiliated with civil organizations, NGOs, or the media may apply for this scholarship.

 

Other Financial Support Options
Distinguished Academic Performance Award

– Students who rank within the top 10% of the class after the first term of the academic year are eligible for this Award.

 

Campus Service Grant
– This is part of the work-study program offered at the KDI School. Students can apply for positions as either a teaching assistant(TA), research assistant(RA) or administrative assistant(AA).

* TA/AA positions require 5 to 10 hours of work each week. TA/AA works is considered as an “internal internship program” during that specific semester, and will receive credits that will be noted in his/her transcript. TA/AA scholarship payment shall be remitted every six weeks. TA/AA positions open every semester and RA positions are available when necessary.

 

Academic Assistantship

– This type of scholarship is granted to enrolled students who face unusual hardship in financing their education at the KDI School.

KT&G Fellowship at Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS)

At Yunsei Yniverstiy

 

The KT&G Foundation offers scholarships to the Turkish, Iranian, Russian, Kazakhstani, Indonesian students who seek a master’s degree at the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) of Yonsei University

Eligibility and Conditions

  1. Degree: A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree.
  2. Age : No limit
  3. Health: Applicants must be in both sound physical and mental health.
  4. English Language Proficiency: Applicants must possess strong English language proficiency (Recommended score of TOEFL CBT 237 (IBT 93/PBT 580), IELTS 6.5 or above).
  5. Arrival in Korea: Scholarship recipients must arrive in Korea by February 23, 2010 and must attend the new student orientation program on February 24, 2010 at Yonsei GSIS.
  6. Application Period: All necessary documents must be submitted to the Yonsei GSIS office between September 1, 2009 – November 30, 2009. All original documents should arrive at the GSIS office by this date.

Terms of Fellowship
The scholarship covers a maximum of 24 months (2 years), from March 2010 to February 2012. Students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0/ 4.3 every semester to maintain fellowship eligibility.

Scholarship Details

  1. Tuition fee: The KT&G Foundation will provide tuition fee for Spring 2010 through Fall 2011 (up to 4 semesters).
  2. Stipend: The KT&G Foundation will provide a monthly stipend of KRW 1,000,000(= USD 892) for up to 24 months

At Hanyang University

 

The GSIS of Hanyang University is inviting for postgraduate studies four students from among Turkish, Iranian, Russian, Kazakhstani and Indonesian nationals, early October. Successful candidates will receive FULL scholarship including monthly stipends from matriculation to graduation. Please click the KT&G Fellowship on GSIS’s website for detailed information.

Scholarship Foundation, established in 2008, understands the importance of providing the right environment for young people to grow into core leaders for the 21st century. This is crucial in that these leaders will become the driving force in the future development of their own countries engaged in competition in a new knowledge-based era.<p “align=”justify”>In order to make such a world, KT&G Scholarship Foundation seeks in cooperation with the GSIS to provide with a global awareness in the minds of the leaders of the next generation. Scholarships covering tuition fee and living stipend for graduate programmes are available. At the same time Korean cultural experience programmes are organized. These students who receive the scholarship are not only able to focus on studies but have better understanding about Korea. In addition, its Human Resource Network assists them along their paths towards becoming global leaders.

KT&G is a corporation that manufactures and sells cigarettes and health / functional foods. It has run social contribution programme in the fields of social security, culture, environment and academic researches. Since the establishment of KT&G Social Welfare Foundation in 2003, it has been involved in promoting social welfare in a more structured manner.

 

1. Eligibility
Anyone who is interested in our GSIS programme is eligible, with priority given to those applying for the Korean Studies Programme.

2. Qualifications
Applicants must satisfy the following requirements. They must
(1) be Turkish, Iranian, Russian, Kazakhstani and Indonesian nationals.
(2) have completed their full primary and secondary education for about 11-12 years outside Korea.
(3) hold a Bachelor’s degree as of the day of their matriculation to the GSIS.
(4) Under the age of 35 as of January for the applying year.
(5) have satisfactory academic results from their last academic institutions.
(6) show they are motivated to learn the Korean language.
(7) be able to communicate either in Korean or English.
(8) be in good health.
(9) not receive other scholarships.

3. Tenure of Scholarship
(1) Two years for Master’s programme
(2) Applicants MUST maintain the minimum of 3.0 out of 4.0 in Grade Point Average score in order
to remain as recipients of the scholarship.

The Daewoong Foundation plans to select some high-performing international students and offer scholarships.

1. Eligibility

– Undergraduate and graduate students whose nationality is China, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Pakistan, India, Middle East countries or CIS countries.
